Chelsea's Tyrique George heads to Everton on loan, with the Toffees holding an option to buy the promising attacker this summer.

It is set to be an exciting remaining few hours of the winter transfer window across the Premier League and Europe, and things are no different when it comes to Chelsea

There is still anticipation for the recall of Mamadou Sarr, with Aaron Anselmino set to go the other way and join Strasbourg on loan until the end of the 25/26 season. Meanwhile, links to other new names remain.

One player who could join Anselmino by departing on loan is Tyrique George, with the forward looking likely to join fellow Premier League side Everton until the end of the season.

According to David Ornstein, George will join David Moyes's side on a loan deal, but it won't be a simple, dry loan. Indeed not, with Ornstein reporting that Everton will have an option to buy the player this summer.

So far this season, the teenager has played just 504 minutes across all competitions, which is the equivalent of around 5.6 full games of football. Not optimal for any player, at any age, and it is clear something had to change for him.

In those 504 minutes, he scored three goals and provided a further assist, showing he can be productive if given game time. Given the lack of productivity from some other forwards, he may feel a little aggrieved not to have got more minutes throughout the campaign so far.

At the end of the summer transfer window, George was linked with a move to fellow West London outfit Fulham, but nothing materialised, and he remained at Chelsea for the first half of the season.

But clearly, things have just not happened for him this year. Last season, a huge benefit to playing in the UEFA Conference League was it allowed players like George to get significant first team minutes, as well as being exposed to European football whilst playing at a decent level.

The 19-year old played 765 minutes in the Conference League alone, which is more than 200 minutes more than he has played in all competitions put together this season, which tells you something.

In the UEFA Champions League, you simply do not get the luxury of playing youngsters and resting your key players. The fact Cole Palmer was not even registered for the league phase in the Conference League last season tells you what you need to know in that regard.

Good luck to George on Merseyside. With the recent season ending injury to Jack Grealish, there is a serious opportunity for him to get some regular game time up there.
