As per usual, it is shaping up to be a very interesting summer transfer window for Chelsea.
Some are suggesting that the relatively quiet winter transfer window may have been with a view to a big spending spree this summer, although that has not been reported by any source just yet.
Nevertheless, fans feel the club is just a few players away from competing in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League again. The latter of which they may be able to do this season, but a top 5 spot is the best that can be hoped for in the league.
So, which signings could Chelsea make this summer that will have them contending for the big prizes once again?
Well, one surprise name could be reigning Ballon D'or winner Ousmane Dembele of PSG. According to outlet CaughtOffside, the 28-year old has offered himself to Chelsea after falling out with PSG boss Luis Enrique.
Earlier this week, the Frenchman was subbed off in the first half of the Parisians' comeback win away to domestic rivals Monaco in the Champions League. In the end, it was confirmed that he was injured, rather than just being dragged off by the Spaniard.
However, there has been talk that Enrique rushed his starman back, and it would not have been for the first time this season. Perhaps that is what has angered Dembele and has led to this reported falling out.
Seeing the France international at Stamford Bridge would be amazing. His legendary 24/25 season led to PSG winning a first-ever treble and to him winning the Ballon d'Or. In all competitions, he scored 33 goals and provided 13 assists on the way to the historic season.
This season has not quite been as fruitful for Dembele, with his old injury nightmares starting to reappear, but he has still found the net 11 times whilst providing seven assists in 24 outings.
As for how he would fit in at Chelsea, it would be very interesting to see. In the earlier parts of his career, he would often play off both flanks, with his two-footedness making him very adept on either side.
However, his form since the start of last season has been nearly exclusively as a false 9. He has not played out wide for quite a while now. In SW6, the dynamic between Joao Pedro, the striker, and Cole Palmer, the number ten, has been looking very sharp.
So, it will be interesting to see where Dembele will play. Let's see Palmer off the right, Pedro as the ten, and the Frenchman as the false 9.
Either way, would love to see it.
