Czechia vs South Africa Half Time Thoughts: Sadílek Goal To Split Two Resistant Sides
It's half-time in a crucial fixture to determine the future aspirations of both Czechia and South Africa, and there is little to separate the two sides.
Michal Sadílek's goal in the sixth minute was enough to keep Czechia in front of Bafana, and Miroslav Koubek's Czech side immediately sought to protect the lead, knowing progression to the round of 32 is at stake.
Czechia has had its chances, but has failed to capitalise on a wounded South Africa side so far. Koubek's worry will be if they continue to miss vital efforts, then they may provide South Africa with a chance to get back into the game.
Hugo Broos won't be too pleased with his team's first-half performance; there is certainly room for improvement. It seems the African side is waiting for a Czech mistake, rather than using their ability and taking the game to their opponents.
The defending remains poor for Bafana, and the proficiency in attack has not improved just yet, but with the pressure on Czechia, if they can keep the score at 1-0 early on, they'll have cause to pile the pressure on Czechia.
