South Africa 0-0 Canada: Modiba Heroics Enough To Keep Canada At Bay
After a somewhat stale first 40 minutes, the first half completely swung in favour of Canada until the break, and they'll feel hard done by as they enter the break still level. For most of the half, it has been end-to-end. South Africa is committing Thapelo Maseko and Oswin Appollis forward to act as outlets, but they've failed to translate any chances. Moïse Bombito was unlucky not to score; his header was cleared off the line by Aubrey Modiba, and follow-up chances were saved by Ronwen Williams in a calamitous ten seconds in the Bafana box. The highlight of the half, though, was just minutes later, a late challenge by Maseko in the box was enough to bring Richie Laryea down, which the referee decided it was a foul, but VAR overturned the decision, despite clear contact. The game has been entertaining so far, but both sides need more quality in the final third to really set them apart. It could go either way, so I wouldn't go too far.

Czechia Vs Mexico Half Time Thoughts: Cautious Openining 45 Minutes Means Nothing To Split The Two Sides
Group A's fixtures are at the halfway stage, and there has yet to be a goal to define the outcome of this group. South Korea and South Africa are in a stalemate, with both sides needing a win to secure a route to the knockout stages, and Czechia joins them, having to beat host nation Mexico to qualify. Czechia can only be described as decent so far; the weight of this game is not lost on them, and the cautious nature of the first half proves that. Denis Visinsky, who makes his first appearance at the 2026 World Cup, narrowly hit wide early in the first half, a chance that Miroslav Koubek's men may come to rue. Mexico has continued theri solid form, having dominated the group so far, even with a rotated side; they don't seem to be any weaker. Guillermo Martinéz gets his first minutes at this World Cup, also, and it seems EL Trí are missing the presence of Raúl Jiménez, as Martinéz has consistently slowed down the Mexico counterattacks. A goal is needed to bring this game to life, Czechia are playing like a team with everything to lose, but their quality should shine through as they pile the pressure of Mexico.

Mexico 0-0 South Korea Half Time Thoughts: Stong First-Half But Nothing To Seperate The Two sides
The improvement in quality from the other fixture in Group A on Thursday evening is night and day. This match was always going to provide more competition, and you'd expect both sides to make the knockouts. It's been narrow, but I've been impressed by both Mexico and South Korea. The match tempo is high, and the teams are well-disciplined; all that's missing is that vital goal to put some difference between the two teams. After a shakeup to the starting eleven, Mexico has started strong, but remains cautious so far. Javier Aguirre's choice to re-include Edson Álvarez in the team tonight has provided dividends when he cleared a lofted attempt from Heung-Min Son off the line early in the first half. Julián Quiñones has been Mexico's standout attacker so far; his chances have thinned since last week's fixture, but he was denied the opener thanks to a stupendous close-range save from Raúl Rangel. Son has been South Korea's danger man in this game; his Premier League experience has aided him in finding space between the Mexico defenders, and his pace has provided him with opportunities in behind. The midfield duo of Seung-Ho Paik and In-Beom Hwang has been hard at work. The double-pivot, complemented by the wingbacks, has continued their fast-paced pressing from last week's tie, leading them to recover possession with ease. A goal is needed to provide some jeopardy into this game, as both teams are looking to qualify for the round of 32 tonight. Both nations have attacking options at their disposal; it's just a matter of time before this game is opened up.

Czechia vs South Africa Half Time Thoughts: Sadílek Goal To Split Two Resistant Sides
It's half-time in a crucial fixture to determine the future aspirations of both Czechia and South Africa, and there is little to separate the two sides. Michal Sadílek's goal in the sixth minute was enough to keep Czechia in front of Bafana, and Miroslav Koubek's Czech side immediately sought to protect the lead, knowing progression to the round of 32 is at stake. Czechia has had its chances, but has failed to capitalise on a wounded South Africa side so far. Koubek's worry will be if they continue to miss vital efforts, then they may provide South Africa with a chance to get back into the game. Hugo Broos won't be too pleased with his team's first-half performance; there is certainly room for improvement. It seems the African side is waiting for a Czech mistake, rather than using their ability and taking the game to their opponents. The defending remains poor for Bafana, and the proficiency in attack has not improved just yet, but with the pressure on Czechia, if they can keep the score at 1-0 early on, they'll have cause to pile the pressure on Czechia.

Complete Starting XI Changes In All or Nothing Game
Czechia and South Africa face off in the second round of fixtures in Group A, and both managers have surprised the masses by dropping key players. West Ham's Tomas Soucek has been replaced by a trio, Vladimír Darida, Lúcas Cerv, and Michal Sadílek, who will start for Mirsolav Koubek's side tonight. Soucek's exclusion will raise eyebrows, though he didn't have the best of starts to the tournament in Czechia's opening loss against South Korea; Soucek remains one of the best players in Koubek's squad. Hugo Broos has opted for Iqraam Rayners to be the sole striker, and he'll be accompanied by wingers Thapelo Maseko and Oswin Appollis, who were benched in last Thursday's loss to Mexico. Foster is likely to make an impact off the bench for South Africa, as Bafana need a point to keep their knockout dreams alive.
