South Africa 0-0 Canada: Modiba Heroics Enough To Keep Canada At Bay
After a somewhat stale first 40 minutes, the first half completely swung in favour of Canada until the break, and they'll feel hard done by as they enter the break still level.
For most of the half, it has been end-to-end. South Africa is committing Thapelo Maseko and Oswin Appollis forward to act as outlets, but they've failed to translate any chances.
Moïse Bombito was unlucky not to score; his header was cleared off the line by Aubrey Modiba, and follow-up chances were saved by Ronwen Williams in a calamitous ten seconds in the Bafana box.
The highlight of the half, though, was just minutes later, a late challenge by Maseko in the box was enough to bring Richie Laryea down, which the referee decided it was a foul, but VAR overturned the decision, despite clear contact.
The game has been entertaining so far, but both sides need more quality in the final third to really set them apart. It could go either way, so I wouldn't go too far.
