Wrexham enter Tuesday’s fixture 15th in the Championship with 11 points from nine matches. Phil Parkinson’s side have recorded two wins, five draws and two defeats, scoring ten goals and conceding thirteen.
Their recent results include a heavy 6–0 defeat at West Ham, followed by a 2–1 home victory over Southampton and Saturday’s 1–1 draw at Derby. Ollie Rathbone’s late equaliser secured the latest point.
Five draws have limited their progress, making sharper finishing a priority, and consecutive home games against West Brom and Preston now offer a chance to improve their position before away trips to Blackburn and Sheffield United.
West Brom arrive ninth with 14 points from nine Championship fixtures, having won four, drawn two and lost three. James Morrison’s side have scored ten goals and conceded nine, leaving them three points ahead of Wrexham.
Their opening seven matches produced 14 points, but consecutive defeats have interrupted that progress. Albion lost 1–0 at Wolves before suffering another 1–0 defeat against Birmingham at the Hawthorns on Saturday. They therefore travel to the Racecourse seeking their first points since the international break. Improving their attacking output is essential after two scoreless matches, while maintaining defensive discipline against Wrexham’s forwards remains important.
Josh Windass is ruled out for Wrexham after damaging ankle ligaments at Derby. Parkinson confirmed on Monday, October 12, that a scan showed the injury was less serious than initially feared, but swelling must settle before he returns.
Ben Sheaf and Callum Doyle remain doubts following groin problems, while Matty James missed Derby with a back spasm. Max Cleworth, Liberato Cacace, George Thomason and Nathan Broadhead are also listed as likely absentees.
Danny Imray and Ollie Rathbone have returned to action, with Rathbone scoring Saturday’s equaliser.
West Brom’s reported absentees are Mikey Johnston, sidelined with a long-term injury, and Nolan Galves, who sustained an injury in September. Wrexham’s doubtful players remain subject to fitness assessment.
Wrexham beat West Brom 1–0 in the FA Cup in January 1930. Albion won their 1971 Watney Cup meeting 2–1. Last season, West Brom secured a 3–2 victory at the Racecourse in August 2025 before the teams drew 2–2 at the Hawthorns in April 2026, sharing eight goals across both.
