Wrexham produced one of their strongest Championship performances on Saturday, beating Preston North End 4-1 at the Racecourse Ground. Phil Parkinson’s side recovered quickly after conceding an equaliser, with four different players finding the net. Ben Whiteman and Joe Worrall stood out, while the hosts controlled possession and created 18 attempts.
Here are Wrexham RoundTable player ratings,
Anthony Patterson – 6.5
Had a difficult opening as Preston threatened from set pieces and open play. He was beaten by Alfie Devine’s equaliser, but Wrexham’s dominance after the break meant he wasn't regularly called upon.
Dominic Hyam – 7.0
The Wrexham captain put in a solid display, helping steady the back three after Preston made a bright start. His experience was valuable as the hosts took control and protected their advantage.
Joe Worrall – 8.5
Outstanding at both ends. Cleared Odel Offiah’s early effort off the line, then powered home Danny Imray’s cross to open the scoring. Also played a part in Kieffer Moore’s goal, earning one of the highest ratings.
Callum Doyle – 8.0
An assured performance at left-back. Offered a useful passing outlet and delivered the dangerous free-kick that led to Moore’s fourth goal. Booked late on, but otherwise enjoyed an effective afternoon.
Danny Imray – 7.5
A major attacking outlet at wing-back. His inviting cross created Worrall’s opener, and another delivery caused problems in the build-up to Whiteman’s strike. Replaced by Issa Kaboré after 68 minutes.
Ben Whiteman – 8.5
FotMob’s Player of the Match. Scored Wrexham’s second against his former club with a low effort from outside the box, then supplied the corner for Sam Smith’s header. His midfield influence was decisive.
Matty James – 5.5
Worked alongside Whiteman in central midfield but had less individual impact than his partner. Replaced by George Dobson with nine minutes of normal time remaining.
Jacques Ekomié – 6.5
A steady showing down the left, providing width when Wrexham attacked and helping the defence remain organised. Not among the standout performers, but contributed to a much-improved team result.
Callum O’Hare – 7.5
Threatened in the first half, forcing Daniel Iversen into a save before seeing another close-range effort blocked. Offered movement between midfield and attack and kept Preston’s defenders occupied. Withdrawn late on.
Kieffer Moore – 8.0
Another hardworking performance from the Welsh striker. His clever set-piece finish effectively ended the contest and rewarded a hardworking display.
Sam Smith – 7.5
Justified his place in the starting side. Tested Iversen before the interval and made it 3-1 by heading in Whiteman’s corner after 59 minutes. His goal gave Wrexham the breathing space they needed.
