Phil Parkinson believes Wrexham must improve their final-third decision-making if they want to turn competitive Championship performances into more wins.

Ahead of Tuesday’s home meeting with West Bromwich Albion, the manager identified moments at Derby when better delivery across goal or more accurate finishing could have changed the outcome.

His concerns were execution in attack, not a lack of commitment. Wrexham recovered to draw 1–1 at Pride Park, but Parkinson wants more of their promising situations to produce clear chances and goals.

Wrexham enter the West Brom fixture with two wins, five draws and two defeats in their first nine league matches. Their 10 goals scored underline the need to make more of the openings they create.

Five draws show how tough the Championship is and how well-put-together the league's squads are. Those results have kept points accumulating, but also explain why the team has yet to establish a stronger position.

Turning even one draw into a win adds two points to the total, and at the end of a season, those two points could be the difference between playoff places and not.

Wrexham’s late goal at Pride Park showed the value of combining those actions successfully. Parkinson described Danny Imray’s cross, Kieffer Moore’s header back across goal and Rathbone’s finish as the sequence that finally rewarded his side’s persistence.

He had watched Wrexham continue searching for an opening despite inconsistent quality earlier in the game. The equaliser showed a clear attack ending with several players making useful contributions.

Crossing opportunities require supporting movement. Finishing chances require composure as well as quick reactions. Improving one part of an attack will have limited value if the following action breaks down.

West Brom arrive after consecutive 1–0 defeats to Wolves and Birmingham City. Those results give the visitors a reason to seek a response, while their narrow margins of defeat suggest Wrexham should prepare for another closely contested match.

The Derby comeback showed Wrexham could stay involved until the closing minutes. Against West Brom, better choices earlier in attacks could reduce the need to chase a late result.

Their next step is to make productive possession count often enough to change the scoreline—and, ultimately, turn another competitive performance into three points.

West Brom sit ninth in the Championship with 14 points from nine matches, recording four wins, two draws and three defeats. They have scored ten goals and conceded nine.

Two consecutive 1–0 losses to Wolves and Birmingham have checked their progress ahead of Tuesday’s trip to face Wrexham at the Racecourse.
