Phil Parkinson confirms Danny Imray and Ollie Rathbone are available for Wrexham’s trip to Derby, though five players remain sidelined.
Wrexham have received a double fitness boost before Saturday’s trip to Derby County, with Danny Imray and Ollie Rathbone back in full training and available for selection.
Phil Parkinson confirmed the news to The Leader, giving the manager additional options for his side’s return to Championship action.
Imray missed the victory over Southampton with a hamstring problem. Rathbone was absent for the last two matches after damaging ankle ligaments. Both have now rejoined training.
Parkinson said Wrexham had used the break to give Imray extra recovery time rather than hurry his return. The wing-back has trained well this week.
The manager also highlighted Rathbone’s influence beyond matches, describing his presence on the training ground as a boost to the squad’s standards.
“Ollie's enthusiasm and energy is infectious, and it's good to have him back fit,” Parkinson told The Leader.
Wrexham’s injury list contains George Thomason, Liberato Cacace, Max Cleworth, Nathan Broadhead and Seb Revan, who remain sidelined, according to the report.
Wrexham visit Pride Park on Saturday, October 10, with kick-off at 3pm BST. Their last league outing was a 2–1 home win over Southampton on September 19, following a difficult run of results.
Before that victory, Parkinson’s side drew with Burnley and Swansea and suffered a 6–0 defeat at West Ham. They also showed their away-day form with a 3–0 win at Millwall earlier in September.
Derby enter the fixture after a 1–1 draw at Burnley, having previously lost to Birmingham and West Brom. The meeting offers both clubs a chance to build momentum after the pause in domestic fixtures.
For Parkinson, having Imray and Rathbone available broadens his options for the starting side and the bench. Neither player’s return guarantees an immediate place in the lineup, as the manager still needs to assess the team's balance.
Their recovery also gives Wrexham more flexibility during the match. Additional options could become valuable if the visitors need to change their approach or introduce fresh energy later in the afternoon.
The remaining absences mean squad management will keep mattering beyond Derby. Wrexham host West Brom on Tuesday, October 13, before Preston visit the following Saturday.
With three league matches in eight days, the return of two players arrives at a useful moment. Parkinson now has more scope to manage that run while building on the Southampton result at Pride Park.
