Wrexham AFC manager Phil Parkinson faces more selection decisions ahead of Saturday’s Championship trip to Blackburn Rovers, with several first-team players still recovering from injury.

Max Cleworth, Nathan Broadhead, Ben Sheaf and Josh Windass remain fitness concerns, while George Thomason, Sebastian Revan and Liberato Cacace have also been sidelined.

The Red Dragons travel to Ewood Park looking to build on their impressive 4-1 victory over Preston North End, which moved them up to 14th in the Championship.

Parkinson has received encouraging news regarding some of his injured players, although their availability for Saturday remains uncertain.

Speaking ahead of Wrexham’s recent Championship fixture against West Bromwich Albion, Parkinson confirmed that Cleworth, Broadhead and Sheaf had resumed running outdoors.

Cleworth has been recovering from a hamstring problem, leaving Wrexham without one of their established defensive options. Broadhead has missed recent fixtures after sustaining a thigh injury in training. His absence has reduced Parkinson’s attacking options, particularly behind the main striker.

The Wales international could face a longer spell on the sidelines, with some reports suggesting his recovery may continue into December.

Sheaf, meanwhile, suffered a groin problem during the October international break. The midfielder had only recently returned to action before experiencing another setback. Parkinson previously said the injury was not serious, raising hopes he could return in October.

Saturday’s Blackburn fixture has been mentioned as a potential comeback date, although Wrexham have not confirmed his availability.

Josh Windass is another player whose fitness is being monitored. The experienced attacking midfielder suffered an ankle injury during Wrexham’s 1-1 draw against Derby County on 10 October and was forced off during the first half.

Initial concerns suggested the injury could keep Windass sidelined for an extended period. However, subsequent examinations provided encouragement, with Parkinson confirming that the damage was less serious than first feared.

Windass was later seen wearing a protective boot after the victory over Preston, suggesting his recovery is still being managed carefully.

Wrexham’s injury problems have also affected their options in wide defensive positions.

George Thomason, Sebastian Revan and Liberato Cacace have all been unavailable, leaving Parkinson with fewer alternatives at wing-back.

That has increased the importance of Danny Imray and Jacques Ekomié, both of whom started against Preston. There has been some positive news elsewhere, with Callum Doyle recovering from a groin problem to return to the starting line-up against West Brom.

The defender also featured against Preston, helping Wrexham secure their biggest Championship victory of the campaign. Matty James provided another boost by returning to the starting eleven against Preston following a back problem.

The experienced midfielder partnered Ben Whiteman and helped Parkinson establish greater control in midfield.

Despite the injuries, Wrexham produced an improved attacking performance against Preston.

Parkinson selected Kieffer Moore and Sam Smith together in a two-striker formation, with Callum O’Hare operating behind them. Both forwards scored, while Joe Worrall and Whiteman also contributed as Wrexham claimed three valuable points.

Wrexham travel to Ewood Park on Saturday 24 October, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.

With another away match against Sheffield United scheduled for 30 October, managing his available players' workload will remain an important consideration.
