Ajax are said to be interested in a Colombian defender who has been compared to Davinson Sanchez.

Will Ajax win the Eredivisie this season?More Videos

Ajax revamped the centre of their defence during the summer transfer window.

Josip Sutalo joined Lazio on a season-long loan, with the Serie A outfit having the option to make the transfer permanent next summer. Ko Itakura also left Ajax to return to  Borussia Mönchengladbach on a permanent transfer after a disappointing season in Amsterdam. Ahmetcan Kaplan also left to join NEC Nijmegen, the club where he spent the 2025/26 season on loan.

Daley Blind returned to Ajax on a free transfer from Girona for his third spell with the club. Blind has not played since Ajax's away game against Shelbourne FC, as he continues to recover from an injury.

Ajax also signed Thilo Kehrer. The German defender joined Ajax on a season-long loan. Ajax did not include a buy option in the deal, but Kehrer has said that he would be open to extending his stay at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

Dies Janse also returned to Ajax. He enjoyed a successful loan spell at FC Groningen last season, starting 30 Eredivisie games. Janse has only started one Eredivisie game so far this season, but has signed a contract extension with Ajax and will likely play an important role in the coming years.

In addition to Blind, Kehrer and Janse, Ajax also have Aaron Bouwman and Youri Baas, who will both likely play important roles in Michel Sanchez's squad this season.

Ajax keen on Parra

Despite having five quality centre-backs, Ajax are reportedly interested in signing Colombian centre-back Néider Parra. The 21-year-old currently plays for Atlético Nacional.

According to Sport Witness, Ajax's scouts have been monitoring Parra, as have scouts from FC Porto and Palmeiras.

Brighton and Hove Albion and AFC Bournemouth are also interested in Parra and have both sent scouts to watch the defender this week.

The Sport Witness report claims a source compared Parra's early development to Davinson Sanchez. Just like Parra, Sanchez broke through at Atlético Nacional. Sanchez made 45 appearances for the Colombian club before moving to Ajax. He played 47 times for the Amsterdammers before moving to Tottenham Hotspur.

Should Ajax sign Parra?

Parra looks to be an exciting player, and at only 21 years of age, he still has a few years of development left ahead of him before he enters his prime.

Whether Ajax tries to sign Parra will likely depend on how Kehrer's season goes. If Kehrer does well, Ajax may attempt to sign him on a permanent transfer.

If they do, that might rule out the possibility of signing Parra, as Ajax would then still have two quality right-footed centre-backs in Kehrer and Bouwman.
