Havi Hernandez, the new manager of the Netherlands national team, included no Ajax players in his 26-man squad for this set of international matches.

Xavi began his reign with a draw against Germany, in what was also Jurgen Klopp's first game as Germany's manager. Felix Nmecha's goal gave Germany the lead for most of the game, but Cody Gakpo's stoppage-time goal salvaged a point for the Dutch.

Xavi then won his first game in charge against Serbia. The Netherlands still have two games left before the international break ends: against Greece and Serbia again.

While no current Ajax players were included in the Dutch squad, there are several former Ajax players in the squad. Jorrel Hato, Jurrien Timber, Ryan Gravenberch, Kenneth Taylor, Brian Brobbey and Noa Lang were all called up. Justin Kluivert also made the squad, but had to withdraw. Brobbey also picked up an injury against Germany and will not play in the games against Greece and Serbia.

Speaking to Voetbal Primeur, former Ajax midfielder Taylor spoke on working with Xavi.

"It is obviously wonderful. He is one of the best midfielders ever," Taylor said when asked about working with Xavi.

"You basically grew up with the FC Barcelona of that time. At Ajax, those were the examples we get, so that is very nice."

While no Ajax players were included in Xavi's squad, there are certainly a few players who could receive a call-up in the future.

One of those players is Aaron Bouwman. The young defender suffered an injury against PSV Eindhoven and was therefore ruled out of this international break, but he is an immensely talented player who will likely play many games for the Netherlands.

At only 19 years of age, he certainly still has areas of his game that he must develop in order to become an elite defender. Out of possession, he does have weaknesses, but with the ball at his feet, he is outstanding. He can carry the ball forward over large distances and can also break lines with his passing.

Youri Baas is another player who could receive a call-up at some point in the future. The Netherlands have several brilliant left-footed defenders, including Virgil van Dijk, but Baas is developing well. The defender was a crucial player for Ajax last season and will likely continue to be, having already started six out of seven Eredivisie games.

Dies Janse is also a very talented defender and has recently extended his contract. Janse was excellent last season, on loan at FC Groningen. He will likely, at some point in the future, develop into a very important player for Ajax and could, therefore, at some point make his debut for the Dutch national team. He first has to, however, focus on getting regular minutes at Ajax.
