Paris Saint-Germain have opened talks to sign Mika Godts from Ajax, with a transfer progressing very quickly.

Godts was spotted with Luis Campos, PSG's technical director, in Portugal on Friday, and personal terms between the Belgian winger and the European champions are now in place.

Talks between the clubs are now ongoing, with Ajax demanding a transfer fee of €60 million.

In quotes published by De Telegraaf, Ajax's technical director Jordi Cruijff said that Ajax want to keep Godts for one more year.

“We are incredibly satisfied with Mika. Not only because of his fantastic statistics from last season, but also because of his commitment and professional attitude in and around training, and his drive to improve every day," Cruijff explained.

We really cannot do without him this season.”

“Eventually, players will leave. But at the right moment and at the right price, because we want to win titles.”

Premier League clubs interested in Godts

While PSG are the team in active talks to sign Godts, other top clubs are said to be monitoring developments closely.

According to TEAMtalk,  Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been informed of the latest developments, having maintained contact with Godts’ representatives throughout the summer.

The report claims that Arsenal remain firmly in the market for a left-sided attacker, while Liverpool and Tottenham are also in the market for a wide player.

Arsenal have already signed Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, but are still in the market for another left-winger, with the Gunners pushing to sign Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid. That deal will not be easy, though, and they may be forced to turn their attention elsewhere if the Brazilian decides to stay at the Bernabéu.

It has been well-documented that Liverpool are keen on winger Bradley Barcola, but the Merseyside club may be forced to reconsider their options after it was revealed PSG are seeking a fee of around €170 million for the 23-year-old wide player.

Tottenham have invested significant money into strengthening their midfield, but the north-London club are keen to strengthen their attack, too.

Manchester United, on the other hand, will only be looking at signing a left winger in the event Marcus Rashford were to leave, and that is currently not looking very likely.

PSG still firmly leading the race

While there might well be interest from England, Godts' most likely destination is still PSG, with a deal progressing very quickly.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, Godts' agent Niels de Jonck revealed that he is confident an agreement will be reached between PSG and Ajax, with Godts keen on the move to the French capital.

“It’s only logical to me when you have the opportunity to move from the Eredivisie to a club that has won the Champions League twice," De Jonck explained.

"Mika was keen to win trophies with Ajax. But when such an opportunity arises, things change.”
