In the summer of 2025, Real Madrid made a serious attempt to sign Abdellah Ouazane from Ajax.

A deal that would have seen the Moroccan wonderkid move to the Bernabéu was reportedly fully agreed, but the transfer collapsed after Ouazane failed his medical with the La Liga giants.

After his move to Madrid collapsed, Ouazane signed a contract extension with Ajax, which keeps him at the Johan Cruijff ArenA until June 2028.

Ouazane made his debut for Ajax last season in the KNVB Cup against Excelsior Maassluis and has already made 12 appearances in all competitions for Ajax so far this season. He scored a sensational goal against SC Heerenveen in Ajax's 2-2 draw against the Frisian club, and he registered three assists in UEFA Conference League qualifying.

While Ouazane has only started three games so far this season, he has looked very bright, both when starting and coming on as a substitute.

His impressive form earned him a call-up to the Moroccan national team for their upcoming games during the international break, where he could make his debut for the Atlas Lions.

Despite pulling out of a deal to sign Ouazane last year, Real Madrid are now reportedly preparing to reignite their interest in the 17-year-old.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Madrid have renewed their interest in Ouazane.

According to the report, Real Madrid is observing developments, studying daily reports, and preparing a strategic move.

The goal is clear: to sign Ouazane before his market value skyrockets, so that José Mourinho has a midfielder for the future again, the report says.

Ouazane has the ability to become one of the best players in the world. Ajax must keep him for the foreseeable future, and it would also be beneficial for him to stay at Ajax, where he can play regularly, develop as a player and gain experience before making a big move.

Ouazane's minutes have been limited so far this season, but he has been outstanding when he has played. Michel Sanchez needs to find a way to give him more minutes.

He has been predominantly used as a left winger so far this season, but has played a lot in more central areas so far throughout his career. 

Michel could perhaps use Julian Brandt as a no. 8, with Ouazane as a no. 10. Ajax often attack with both the no. 8 and no. 10 on the last line, so Brandt's role in possession would change minimally even if he were asked to play a slightly deeper role out of possession.

Ouazane is a joy to watch. His ability on the ball is special, and he plays without fear. Ajax have to give him the platform to perform at his best.
