Ajax vs Sparta Rotterdam Preview!More Videos

After a three-game winless run, Ajax are now finding form again after two comprehensive victories against FC Groningen and Atalanta.

In the last two games, Ajax, as they have been in the majority of games this season, were very good on the ball. Against Groningen, they created a high volume of chances and against Atalanta, they controlled the game very well and missed a few very decent chances, despite scoring twice.

One of the most positive aspects of Ajax's performances against Groningen and Atalanta is that they have looked a lot more stable out of possession. Against Groningen, they conceded twice, but apart from those two goals and a penalty, which Marc ter Stegen saved, Ajax made it difficult for Groningen to create chances of real value. In the game against Atalanta, the Italian side only managed to create one big chance, and Ajax limited them to an xG (expected goals) of just 0,97.

Ajax are searching for their third consecutive win on Sunday against Sparta Rotterdam. Rogier Meijer's side have had a tough start to the season, earning just nine points from nine games in the Eredivisie and only winning twice. They will take some confidence into the game against Ajax, though, after beating Willem II in their last game. That victory ended a six-game winless run for the Rotterdam-based club.

Which Ajax players are unavailable vs Sparta Rotterdam?

Ajax will be without Kasper Dolberg and Caio Henrique against Sparta Rotterdam. Dolberg will be sidelined for a long period of time due to a knee injury, and Henrique is continuing to recover from a thigh injury. Anton Gaaei and Simon Adingra are both expected to be unavailable as well.

Daley Blind has not played for Ajax in over two months, and Steven Berghuis has been out of action for over a month now, with his last appearance coming in Ajax's 5-1 win against Willem II.

Both Blind and Berghuis trained with the group on Wednesday before the game against Atalanta. It is unclear whether they will be in the squad on Sunday, but prior to the game against Atalanta, Michel revealed he hoped the pair would be available against Sparta.

Ajax predicted starting line-up vs Sparta Rotterdam

Marc ter Stegen will start in goal for Ajax on Sunday. The defence will likely be the same as it was against Atalanta. Owen Wijndal will likely start at left-back, with Lucas Rosa at right-back. Youri Baas and Aaron Bouwman will likely partner each other in central defence.

In midfield, Sofyan Amrabat will start as the deepest midfielder, with Jorthy Mokio as the no. 8 and Julian Brandt as the most advanced midfielder.

In attack, Ajax will likely make two changes. Abdellah Ouazane should start after scoring against Atalanta, which would mean Oscar Gloukh will have to start on the bench. Marcos Leonardo has started in Ajax's last two games, but Tolu Arokodare will likely start. The Nigerian came on as a substitute against Atalanta and played a pivotal role in helping Ajax secure the three points. On the right, Davy Klaassen will keep his place. In possession, he will come into midfield with Rosa pushing into a more advanced position to hold the width.
