Twente vs Ajax Preview!More Videos

Ajax will be looking for their sixth consecutive win as they travel to Enschede to face FC Twente on Sunday afternoon.

The Amsterdammers defeated FC Midtjylland 1-6 in Denmark on Thursday afternoon. Tolu Arokodare scored twice and now has 12 goals in 16 appearances in all competitions this season. Owen Wijndal, Davy Klaassen, Oscar Gloukh and Marcos Leonardo also got on the scoresheet.

Gloukh produced an excellent performance on the left wing, and in addition to his goal, he also assisted two.

Neither Julian Brandt nor Sofyan Amrabat travelled to Denmark as they were both injured, and in the absence of the duo, Michel Sanchez opted to start Youri Baas as the deepest midfielder, with Klaassen as the no. 8 and Jorthy Mokio as the no. 10. Abdellah Ouazane, who has predominantly played on the left wing this season, started on the right on Thursday.

Which Ajax players are unavailable vs Twente?

Several Ajax players have missed games in recent weeks due to injury, but it is expected that a few will return to the matchday squad on Sunday in Enschede.

Caio Henrique and Oliver Edvardsen have both been out for several weeks, but it is expected that they will both be fit enough to be included in the squad against Twente. There is also a possibility that Anton Gaaei will be involved.

It is unclear whether Amrabat and Brandt will be available, but before the game against Midtjylland, Michel Sanchez said that there was a possibility that they would be fit enough to make the squad against Twente.

Kasper Dolberg is unavailable as he continues to recover from a serious knee injury, and Simon Adingra is not expected to be back until some point after the international break.

Ajax predicted line-up vs Twente

Marc ter Stegen will keep his place in goal for Ajax against Twente. Wijndal was excellent on Thursday night and deserves to start against Twente. Lucas Rosa has been very good in recent weeks and will likely start on Sunday. In central defence, Dies Janse will start alongside Aaron Bouwman, who should come back into the team after being rested against Midtjylland.

While Amrabat and Brandt may be on the bench, it is unlikely they will be fit enough to start, given they were not even on the bench against Midtjylland. The midfield will therefore likely remain unchanged. Baas will start as the deepest midfielder, with Klaassen as the No. 8, and Mokio will be the most advanced of the three. It is, however, possible that Bissouma could start, either as a No. 6 or No. 8.

Ajax's front line will also likely remain unchanged. Gloukh was excellent against Midtjylland, and Tolu is in excellent form. Ouazane did not have his best game on the right, but as he can hold the width on the right, it gives Ajax balance. Steven Berghuis is back from injury, but is seemingly not yet fit enough to start.

If Bissouma does start in midfield, it is possible that Michel may then opt to use Klaassen on the right wing.

Ajax predicted line-up vs Twente: Ter Stegen; Rosa, Bouwman, Janse, Wijndal; Baas, Klaassen, Mokio; Ouazane, Tolu, Gloukh.
