Ajax have signed 12 new first-team players since the end of last season, but the club also signed several players for Jong Ajax during the summer transfer window.

The Amsterdammers completed the signing of Fouad Zahouani from Union Touarga Sport. The Moroccan left-back joined Ajax on a three-year contract, keeping him in Amsterdam until June 2029.

Ajax also signed Jano Monserrate. The Spaniard joined Ajax on a free transfer from Atletico Madrid and signed a contract with the Amsterdam club until June 2030. Geronimo Spina also made the move from Atletico Madrid to Ajax, signing a two-year contract.

Abdoulaye Camara, Diego Pugno and Leo Salazar all moved to Amsterdam on loan, with Ajax having the option to sign all three players permanently next summer.

The buy option agreed between Ajax and Udinese for Camara is reportedly worth in the region of €15 million. According to various reports, Ajax can sign Pugno permanently next summer from Juventus for a fee of around €1 million. It is unclear, however, what the value of the buy option Ajax agreed with Espanyol for Salazar is.

Ajax lose race for Noonan

Another youngster Ajax showed a serious interest in signing is Michael Noonan. The 18-year-old Irish forward has already played 81 games for Shamrock Rovers, finding the back of the net on 16 occasions.

In June, it was reported by The 42 that Ajax were in advanced talks to sign Noonan from Shamrock Rovers. The report claimed that Noonan was given a tour of De Toekomst, which is Ajax's training complex, and that his preference was a move to Amsterdam.

Noonan is now, however, set to join Nottingham Forest on a free transfer. The Irish striker's contract at Shamrock Rovers expires at the end of November, and he will join Forest on 1 January, the Premier League club have confirmed.

The 42 report that Noonan felt Ajax would be the perfect move following his visit to the club. Jordi Cruijff led a presentation to him and made it clear that he could progress through Ajax's system. Following that in-person meeting with Cruijff, as well as video calls, it seemed that Ajax had won the race.

However, Nottingham Forest then entered the race for Noonan, and the player ultimately decided to move to the City Ground.

Pugno is shining for Jong Ajax

Noonan is an exciting talent, and losing the race to sign him will likely be met with disappointment in Amsterdam. However, Ajax will take some comfort in the fact that Pugno is currently shining for Jong Ajax.

The Italian striker has scored five goals in eight games in the Dutch second tier and has also registered two assists.

As mentioned already, Ajax have the option to sign Pugno next summer on a permanent deal from Juventus for a reported fee of around €1 million.
