PSV Receive Ricardo Pepi Injury Boost

PSV could receive a timely boost ahead of their clash with Willem II, with Ricardo Pepi closing in on a return from injury.
Head coach Peter Bosz hopes to have the American striker available again, according to the Eindhovens Dagblad.
Pepi has been sidelined since picking up an injury early in PSV’s 3-2 defeat against FC Twente on September 20. He also missed last Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Feyenoord, leaving Bosz without one of his most important attacking options.
The possible return comes as welcome news for PSV, particularly after the club confirmed that summer signing Sami Ouaissa will be unavailable for the coming months.
PSV watcher Rik Elfrink reports that Pepi is close to making his comeback, provided there are no unexpected setbacks.
“The striker has been out since September 20 and is about to return again, provided nothing weird happens. PSV has missed him and especially his goals,” Elfrink writes in the Eindhovens Dagblad.
Pepi’s availability would also give Bosz greater flexibility in attack. Without the American, the PSV coach has had to rely more heavily on a system in which two players take turns occupying the penalty area.
“With Pepi, Bosz can also play in a somewhat different way than now. He then doesn’t necessarily have to always use a system with two players who take turns appearing in the area, but he also has a real finisher again,” Elfrink adds.
After facing Willem II, PSV will host Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, November 4, before travelling to Leeuwarden to take on newly promoted Cambuur on Sunday, November 8.
