The midfield anchor secures his future at Elland Road, snubbing Premier League heavyweights to spearhead Daniel Farke’s ambitious project with a long-term commitment to the Whites.

Many thought that Leeds United may have been heading back to the Championship at the beginning of last season, and after a poor start under Daniel Farke last campaign, this fears grew.

However, the German managed to turn it around at Elland Road with brilliant results against the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea, securing the backing of fans and the board.

Leeds also had several fantastic performers in the squad such as striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, although it has been midfielder Ethan Ampadu who has been handed major plaudits for his form with The Whites.

The Wales international played 35 times in the league for Leeds this season, collecting over 3,000 minutes, including grabbing a goal in a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace and assist in a 1-0 win over Fulham.

A fresh announcement from the club on Thursday confirmed that Ampadu had put pen to paper on a new four-year contract, marking a stunning statement of intent for Leeds to re-establish themselves as Premier League regulars.

At a time when many of the biggest clubs in the country, such as Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, have started turning their attention to buying from within the Premier League, a new deal for Ampadu leaves his future at Elland Road in no doubt.
