Real Madrid have an uphill task ahead as they look for a major turnaround against Bayern Munich, and Alvaro Arbeloa certainly feels they can do it.

Real Madrid had hardly got anything to celebrate this season as their poor form so far shows no sign of stopping, and now they face a reluctant Bayern Munich side during the second leg encounter of their Champions League quarter-final tie at the Allianz Arena.

Los Blancos would go into the game on the back of yet another setback in La Liga as they were held by mid-table side Girona in a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu, and the Whites now see themselves nine points adrift of league leaders Barcelona.

As it stands, Los Merengues' chances of a trophyless season this time look more prominent each passing day despite letting go of Xabi Alonso in January in hopes of a revival, as they brought in Alvaro Arbeloa to replace him.

Although Arbeloa's future at the club would depend largely on his achievements at the end of this campaign, and so far the former right back hasn't really looked convincing, Los Blancos might already be looking to replace him during the summer.

Arbeloa and his men have a daunting task ahead of they are to save the current season by the winning the UCL as they currently trail the tie 2-1 and the Allianz Arena definitely won't be an easy place to visit.

But the Real Madrid manager looked pretty charged up while talking to the press after yesterday's training session in Munich as he tried to inspire the side, saying (h/t Bavarian Football works), "We’re excited. Everyone in Madrid believes we can do it. We’re Real Madrid. We’re coming here with the belief we can do it. We’re a team that never gives up. We’ve won the Champions League 15 times. Nobody knows how it’ll go, but we’ll give our all,

Arbeloa also added, "We're ready to fight, to keep making history and produce a comeback. We’re prepared for the atmosphere. We’ve played here before, I’ve played here before, it's a fantastic stadium and atmosphere. Real Madrid players always feel very comfortable in atmospheres like this. Every single player believes we will make a comeback tomorrow."

These are the kind of nights which every Los Blancos player dreams of, but this season they have been nowhere close to replicating the previous achievements. However, Champions League and Real Madrid are almost synonymous with each other, and they definitely have the firepower to turn the tie around.

But the question is, are the current lot of players motivated enough to fight for the crest like so many others did, I guess we would find it out after the final whistle is blown at the Allianz tonight.
