Real Madrid take on Bayern Munich for the 29th time in all competitions at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday, hoping to conquer the German side for the fifth time running in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Bayern visit the Bernabeu after finishing second in the league phase, three points behind Arsenal, who remain the only side to beat the Bavarians in the UCL this season.

Whereas Los Blancos finished ninth in the league table and had to win their playoff-round matchup against Benfica, they then defeated Manchester City in the Round of 16 phase of the competition.

Real Madrid have been boosted by the recent returns of Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, who were out with injuries, and by Fede Valverde's return to the squad after serving a one-match suspension, following their 2-1 loss to Mallorca.

Los Blancos' number one, Thibaut Courtois, would also miss the match due to injury, as Andriy Lunin would start the game between the sticks for Los Blancos.

And the best part is that Los Merengues have gone on to win the title every time they defeated Bayern in the knockout stages of the UCL since the 2013/14 season.

One cannot deny that the tie is slightly tilted towards Bayern, given the recent form of both sides, but as the famous quote goes, "90 minutes at the Bernabeu is a very long time," and the visitors will definitely feel the heat from the home fans.
