Real Madrid survived a tense battle against Inter Milan to secure the 3 points despite an uneven performance. The fans left less than fully satisfied, but the victory kept the result in their favor.
The match started with the intensity that was expected, with Inter Milan stalking the merengue team down the left flank of Marc Cucurella. Andy Diouf provided a good pass to Marcus Thuram, who took a powerful shot, but Thibaut Courtois was alert to make the first save of danger.
In the opening minutes, Real Madrid played with little intensity, practically locked in its own area and allowing Inter to attack constantly, with Dean Huijsen and Ibrahima Konate tasked with clearing all the crosses from the Neoazzurri.
However, in the 14th minute, when the Merengue team was being besieged by the Italians, Inter midfielder Curtis Jones made a mistake on a back pass and allowed Kylian Mbappe to fight for the ball, leaving it for Brahim Diaz on the outskirts of the large area, who returned the ball to the Frenchman, one-on-one against Josep Martinez and with a precise shot that went between the goalkeeper's legs and sent it into the net, giving Madrid the lead.
In the 23rd minute, the second goal fell for the white team, with a glaring error from Inter's goalkeeper, who sought to control the pass that Benjamin Pavard gave him instead of clearing it at first instance, which allowed Federico Valverde to arrive and be able to strike the ball (which was between Martinez's legs), in what is probably one of the worst errors of the season. This caused Inter to have the same titanic task as last Saturday, when they came back from a 0-2 deficit against Napoli.
The match could have gone to halftime with a 3-goal lead for Madrid. Mbappe, with his speed and dribbling, left the defender on the ground, putting himself face-to-face with the goalkeeper, but Martinez corrected his error on the second goal and stopped both the Frenchman's shot and Vinicius Junior's follow-up shot that took advantage of the rebound, saving his team in an excellent manner.
In the second half that began with Madrid putting a pause on the game due to the lead, Brahim created a dangerous play by getting past two Inter players and putting in a precise cross without a goalkeeper to Jude Bellingham, who, instead of heading it, preferred to control and shoot with his foot, but that allowed the goalkeeper to arrive and again make an extraordinary save, but it was more of an error from the Englishman than a success from the Spaniard.
Real Madrid arrived and arrived at the opponent's area, but looked very imprecise: wrong decisions from the forwards that made the stands upset, who at times booed their players, especially Vinicius Jr., who has not had a good game in general terms.
Now, Brahim, after a recovery from Bellingham and a pass from Mbappe that left him in front of the goalkeeper, did not make the best decision and preferred to cut back and shoot at goal (since the defenders had positioned themselves correctly) instead of assisting Vini, who was alone in front of the net.
It was until the 76th minute that Inter, after a dribble down the right flank from Lautaro, enabled Carlos Augusto, who won the position against Dumfries and sent it into the net, increasing the boos from the fans.
With the final minutes filled with whistles from the Madridistas in the stands and Inter attacking Real Madrid's goal, the match ended 2-1 in favor of the hosts; in this way, without fully convincing the fans, they took the 3 points.
