The journalist criticized Arbeloa for not working at Madrid the way Matarazzo did at Real Sociedad. "He had the raw materials, time, and resources," he said. And the referees are no excuse.

Raul Varela's editorial in La Tribu offered a deep analysis of the current state of Real Madrid, using the recent success of Real Sociedad as a reference. The journalist focused on the difference in management and sporting decisions between the two clubs.

Varela began his reflection by highlighting the atmosphere experienced in San Sebastian after the Copa title: "It was a spectacular day yesterday in Donosti, I would say in all of Guipuzcoa, celebrating a Copa del Rey, the fourth in the trophy case and the second in just over five years." In his analysis, he praised the Basque club's institutional stability and its president, Jokin Aperribay.

The journalist was especially forceful when assessing his profile: "A discreet man to whom we have never given the value he deserves for his impeccable business career of international prestige." He also explained that the club knew how to respond to Imanol Alguacil's departure by betting on an internal solution before finding a new direction.

In that context, he highlighted the emergence of Pellegrino Matarazzo: "He has turned the team inside out," he noted, emphasizing the coach's quick adaptation to the environment and his immediate impact on the team's performance.

From there, Varela shifted his reflection to Real Madrid, questioning why Alvaro Arbeloa did not achieve a similar effect: "I reflect on this, thinking about why Arbeloa was not able to be the Matarazzo of Madrid." In his opinion, the coach had all the necessary elements: "He had the raw materials, he had time, he had resources."

The journalist also contextualized the current situation of the white team, noting that interest in the final stretch of the season is limited and that attention is focused on other external factors. In that sense, he wanted to dismantle one of the usual excuses: "The referees have not been the determining factor. They justify one, two, four results, but not the final balance" of the season.

Varela also reviewed the rumors surrounding the Madrid bench, mentioning names such as Jose Mourinho, Jurgen Klopp, Massimiliano Allegri, and Zinedine Zidane, as well as the option of Didier Deschamps. All of them, in a context of uncertainty surrounding the future of the club.

In his closing, he left an ironic reflection connecting with the success of Real Sociedad and the figure of Aperribay: "The only thing missing is, as Aperribay, a good friend of Florentino, recognized yesterday, that when he wrote Matarazzo in Chat GPT, he saw himself in the second division."
