After an absolutely mad week for everyone associated with Real Madrid, the club have confirmed the disciplinary action they will take on star players

Last night (Thursday), Real Madrid confirmed it would take disciplinary action against first-team midfielders Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde after both had verbal and physical altercations in training this week.

Later on Thursday, Federico Valverde issued a public statement on his official Instagram page, going over what had happened but denying reports that the two had had a physical fight.

Well, today (Friday afternoon), Real Madrid themselves have issued a statement on the punishments both players received: "Real Madrid C. F. announces that, following the events that led to the disciplinary proceedings initiated yesterday against our players Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni, both appeared today before the investigator assigned to the case.

During their appearance, the players expressed their complete remorse for what happened and apologized to each other.

Furthermore, they extended their apologies to the club, their teammates, the coaching staff, and the fans, and both have made themselves available to Real Madrid to accept whatever sanction the club deems appropriate.

Under these circumstances, Real Madrid has decided to impose a financial penalty of five hundred thousand euros on each player, thereby concluding the corresponding internal procedures."

Well, certainly an interesting statement and punishment. It seems like neither player will be suspended from the club and will be allowed to play any game they are available for.

With Valverde, the 27-year-old will be out for 10-14 days, so he would have missed El Clásico as well as the games against Real Oviedo and Sevilla. Based on this, he would, in theory, be available for the game at home against Athletic Club on the final day.

As for Tchouameni, there was talk that he had sustained injuries as a result of challenges from Valverde during training, but unlike the Uruguayan, there has been no medical report on him from the club.

Therefore, we can assume he is immediately available for selection. This seems a pretty light punishment from the club, truth be told. Half a million Euros is a drop in the ocean for either player.

Punishing them from actually playing games sets a more dangerous precedent than fining them less than half of their monthly salary. This is pretty poor discipline in my opinion.

It does not set out the right sort of message at all. This was completely unacceptable behavior, and the punishment does not reflect that whatsoever.
