Today, Thursday the 30th of July 2026, it has been heavily reported by top level sources that Real Madrid first team player Gonzalo Garcia is on the verge of leaving the club.

Well, there is some news to report already. Indeed so, as Fabrizio Romano has given the "Here we go" for striker Gonzalo Garcia to join Premier League side Fulham and reunite with Alvaro Arbeloa.
He reports that it will be a 40 million Euros fixed fee, as well as two million Euros in add ons. Meanwhile, the club will retain a 30% sell on clause, as well as matching rights for the player. He also says Cesar Palacios will soon join Garcia in West London.
Meanwhile, Spanish Radio station COPE are reporting that the 22-year old still dreams of succeeding at Real Madrid in the future, which is why the club changed the deal to 70% rights, so that he is still connected to the club, even though it means receiving less initial money with this deal.
So, there you have it. Garcia will move to England and the Premier League to join Fulham and Arbeloa. Very interesting to see how that move goes. It does feel like the best move for his development. He may love Real Madrid, and perhaps one day he will return, but for now it is clear that a move is best for him.
Last season, despite being 21 (and 22 for the latter part), he played just 1512 minutes across all competitions, the equivalent of around 16.8 full 90's. Although Fulham do not play European football, you can imagine he will play a fair bit more than that this season.
In those 16.8 90's, Garcia scored eight goals and provided three assists, so - although a small sample size - his productivity was actually pretty good. Fans will remember his hat-trick against Real Betis in La Liga at the turn of the year as a high point. He was rewarded for his form with his debut for the senior Spain national side in June against Iraq.
No doubt all Real Madrid fans wish the academy graduate well on his adventure in the Premier League, and well, who knows, maybe we have not seen the last of him in a Los Blancos jersey. You truly never know in football. Let's wait and see. Go well.
