Today, Tuesday July the 21st 2026, we have had the official confirmation that a Real Madrid global superstar is on the cover of the new FC game set to be released.
In late September, around a month after the 26/27 season starts for Real Madrid, the new FC (formerly FIFA) 27 game will be released on all the usual platforms.
Despite the game taking a clear decline in recent years, there is already plenty of excitement and anticipation towards the new game, and what will come with it, good or bad.
One thing that people are always excited to find out when the new EAFC comes out, is who is on the cover of the game. Who the 'Cover Star is'. And well, we now know who it is this year.
Indeed so, as it has been confirmed that Real Madrid superstar forward Kylian Mbappe will be the cover star for FC27.
This will be the third straight year a Real Madrid player is on the cover of EAFC. It was Jude Bellingham on his own for FC 25, and then Bellingham alongside Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala last year for EAFC 26. Although the latter now plays for the Germany national team, the two are good friends having played for the England youth teams together.
It will also be the fourth time that Mbappe is on the cover, having done three years in a row from 21-23, when it was known as FIFA. He was on his own for the first two, and then with Sam Kerr (of Chelsea and Australia women) on FIFA 23.
The FIFA 20 cover star was Eden Hazard, fresh off his blockbuster move to Real Madrid from Chelsea, so let's hope things go more like Bellingham than Hazard, with all due respect to someone who was clearly a great player back in the day.
You may think that this could end up being a productive week for Mbappe, with the Ballon D'or around that time (the week of release) too, but that award has been put back a month to October this year, despite being in September last year. It will be interesting to see if the Frenchman wins it. For my money, the clear winner should be Harry Kane, but Mbappe will certainly be up there. At least top five you'd think.
Ah well, let's see. So, for the fourth time in total, and for the first time since moving to Los Blancos in the summer of 2024, and for the first time since the rebrand to FC, Mbappe is on the front cover of the game. Congratulations.
