Davide Ancelotti Admits Being Real Madrid Manager is a Dream

During his Father Carlo's very successful time at the club, Davide Ancelotti was a coach at Real Madrid between 2021 and 2025, having also worked at the club as a fitness coach between 2013 and 2025, during Carlo's first spell in the Spanish capital.

After their departure, he joined his old man on the coaching staff with the Brazil national team, before soon taking up a role at Brazilian Serie A side Botafogo. After 33 games in charge of the Rio outfit, he was dismissed in December of last year.

Then, this summer, he was appointed manager of Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille, enjoying a fairly positive start to life in the league, with 10 points from their opening five games of the campaign.

During this extended international break, he gave an exclusive interview to Spanish outlet Diario AS, who flew to the north of France to speak to him. As you would imagine, Real Madrid were a hot topic of discussion.

When asked about a potential return to Los Blancos, Ancelotti admitted that it his dream, and said: "It depends on whether I earn it or not. It's not something that only depends on Real Madrid, it also depends on me and what I'm capable of achieving in my career.

Every coach that goes to Real Madrid has a status that I don't yet have, one that I have to earn.

It's a status I have to build by winning matches. This is the winning business. We can spend three days here talking about ideas, about philosophy, but what matters is winning."

At 37, he is still an incredibly young coach, having retired as a professional footballer at just 20 years of age. He has a lot of coaching experience already, having worked as an assistant at a number of his Father's roles, and has already managed 39 games as a number one in just seven or so months managing.

So, it could certainly be one to keep an eye on in the future. Ancelotti also spoke about a number of other topics regarding Real Madrid, including Vinicius' and Xabi Alonso's fall out last year, and how it is 'shocking' that Toni Kroos never won the Ballon d'Or, mentioning that it is impossible to replace a player like him, because there is nobody like him.

Overall, a very interesting read from someone who seems like a very smart and intellectual person.
