Winning relentlessly, Didier Deschamps' pragmatism clashes with flair. Real Madrid is reportedly eyeing the pragmatic coach, but his style sparks debate.

Real Madrid has put Didier Deschamps on its short list for next season. The Frenchman's style is not pleasing, but his ability to win at all costs is seductive.

Coach of the French national team, Didier Deschamps, will play in his last competition this summer at the World Cup. While the 1998 world champion as a player, and 2018 as a coach, assures he is totally focused on the World Cup, his agent is already working on his future job.

Deschamps has already said that he could see himself quickly returning to work as a club coach, and his profile inevitably makes many teams salivate.

His name has been mentioned at Real Madrid, which parted ways with Xabi Alonso and still has little chance of continuing with Alvaro Arbeloa. But the prospect of bringing in the French coach's coach still raises some eyebrows in Spain.

In terms of playing style and tactical setup, Deschamps does not bother with frills and focuses on making his teams win, which he generally manages to do. To the detriment of the game, which may displease a Santiago Bernabeu that is always very demanding.

"One of the biggest controversies surrounding Deschamps' arrival concerns the unattractive playing style of his teams. Despite the presence of world-class players, he is a results-oriented coach," says the Madrid-based media outlet Defensa Central, which is close to Real Madrid's management. So do not expect spectacle, but the former midfielder has other abilities that make Florentino Perez salivate.

He knows how to manage a locker room like no one else, and the war of egos will be forgotten with management between gentleness and firmness in the manner of Carlo Ancelotti.

And above all, at Real Madrid, this is considered an effective way to get back on the path to titles after two barren years that hurt the Casa Blanca's history. A crucial choice to make, but there is no doubt that the French players at Real Madrid would appreciate seeing such a coach arrive in Spain at the end of the summer.
