Miguel Torres, a former Real Madrid defender, believes the club doesn't mind the press talking about Kylian Mbappe.
Miguel Torres, a player on Real Madrid's first team from 2006 to 2009, spoke on RNE's program Tablero Deportivo about the controversy sparked by Kylian Mbappe's trip with actress Ester Exposito while he was recovering from an injury.
"Let me tell you something personal. In my final stage with Malaga, being captain of the team and being in relegation places, after playing, when we had days off, I would come to Madrid because I had my family, I had my partner (actress Paula Echevarria), and I remember how the paparazzi took pictures of me," he told Miguel Angel Mendez about Mbappe and Ester Exposito's "trip to Cagliari."
Miguel Torres revealed that "I spoke with Malaga, because I felt the club was not protecting me, and a senior official at Malaga told me they had had enough with Al Thani, and they were not going to stop protecting me."
"I got the feeling that Malaga was interested, every time we lost, that my images would appear, so that the fans would focus their anger in one direction," shared the former footballer, 40, who became very popular for his participation in 'Masterchef Celebrity.'
Miguel Torres compared his case with that of Mbappe and Ester Exposito at Real Madrid: "What does this mean? Hey, maybe Real Madrid is interested in people talking more about Mbappe than about other things."
Miguel Torres started dating actress Paula Echevarria, ex of singer David Bustamante, in 2018. "I met Paula Echevarria 10 years before David (Bustamante) called me to make a music video. I continued with my life, got married, got separated... And 10 years later, I met Paula again, and here we are," Miguel Torres explained in September 2025.
The former Real Madrid player emphasized that "Paula (Echevarria) broke up with David (Bustamante) a year earlier, I do not dedicate myself to destroying relationships."
Miguel Torres revealed, about the origins of his relationship with Paula Echevarria, that "I spent three or four months talking to Paula on the phone, we became boyfriend and girlfriend over the phone, and the last thing we did was kiss."
"I left football because I had in mind to start a family with Paula in Madrid, and return to my city after so many years. The result is a beautiful boy... I think I did not make a bad decision," he concluded.
