Real Madrid president Florentino Perez says Vinicius Jr. is free to leave the club if he prefers to go.
Any departure or signing remains on hold after the elections called by Real Madrid's president, Florentino Perez, so we still do not know what changes there will be to the roster.
However, rumors fly as the summer transfer window approaches, and one of the most talked-about is the case of winger Vinicius Jr.
The 25-year-old young star is close to a possible departure from the club, or at least that is what the media suppose, and now with Florentino's statement, it seems more possible than ever.
In an exclusive interview with El País, the president spoke about various topics, including the future of Vinicius, making it very clear that they will not put any obstacles in the way if the Brazilian wants to leave to join another club.
Vinicius' contract with Real Madrid expires in 2027, and according to rumors, negotiations to renew it are progressing very slowly, although Florentino sees things differently.
The president assured that if it were up to him, Vinicius would stay at the club for life, as he recognizes the effort that the winger puts into each match, but if he decides to leave, he will not retain him.
"He is very identified with the club. He is only disliked by those who are not Madridistas. If he prefers to leave, he will be free to do so. I am not going to force him to do anything. Money will not be the most important factor; it never has been."
For his part, the Brazilian player has made it clear that he has no intention of rushing the renewal with the club, especially because he believes there is still much to discuss with the club on the matter.
But if the departure proves true, at least we already know of a candidate who is waiting on Vinicius' future.
According to TEAMtalk and reports from Sports Illustrated, Manchester United has been in contact with the Brazilian, but the approach was supposedly rejected because Vinicius prefers to renew with Real Madrid.
But with the arrival of Real Madrid's new coach, the Portuguese Jose Mourinho, the matter will be closely monitored by everyone and may influence his future.
Let us remember that both had friction and disagreements after a conflict between Vinicius and Gianluca Prestianni, a Benfica player who allegedly insulted the Brazilian in a racist manner.
Rumors suggest an incompatibility between the two, so surely this coexistence will be much talked about in the next season.
For the moment, the Brazilian is focused on being better than the disastrous season he had with Los Blancos.
Speaking to Caze TV, he admitted that they were very difficult times, when they lost confidence in themselves, but he assured that Real Madrid will always come back, and this new season will be no exception.
"It is the first time I have gone two seasons without winning; we failed. We have a team to win next year. Real Madrid always comes back."
