According to high profile reports on Wednesday, the 15th of July 2026, an international star is said to want to join Real Madrid this summer transfer window.
It's safe to say that Real Madrid need surgery in the transfer window after the bitter disappointment of the past two seasons.
Work was done very quickly in that department, with the signings of Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan, Ibrahima Konate from Liverpool (free transfer), Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, and Bernardo Silva from Manchester City (free transfer).
However, there has still been some hope that a 'Galactico' signing would be made, a true worldwide superstar, with all due respect to the aforementioned players. Especially when Florentino Perez mentioned as much in the lead up to the June elections.
Well, there has potentially been a positive update in that regard. Indeed so, as French journalist Santi Aouna has today - the 15th of July - reported that Bayern Munich superstar Michael Olise wants to join Real Madrid this summer.
He states that Olise thinks Los Blancos are the perfect club to continue his progression, and that Real Madrid want to pull off a world record transfer. Bayern's official stance is that he is not for sale, but Aouna says the truth is "more nuanced" - although they would like to extend his contract, they have also been in contact with potential replacements for the Frenchman.
Finally, he says that the player will discuss with his (Bayern's) leaders after the World Cup. Although France were knocked out of the competition last night, there is still the third place play off to come on Saturday, and then he will presumably go on holiday for a few weeks after that.
Wow, very interesting indeed, if true. There is no doubt that Olise would be an incredible signing for Jose Mourinho's side, and as well as his clear, undoubted quality, he would be the perfect profile of player to form the attack with Vinicius and international team mate Kylian Mbappe.
To follow up on that, the fact he has already played with Mbappe can only be a positive, he will need less time to settle in and build chemistry. Aurelien Tchouameni too (if he stays at the club).
Let's see what happens, but Aouna is quite a trusted and reputable journalist in France, so you'd imagine there is a fair chance there is an element of truth to it. Let's see what happens with Bayern themselves. There is no need for them to sell for any less than say, 220 million Euros. Will Real Madrid go that far? It will be interesting to see.
