Is Kylian Mbappe Playing Today for Real Madrid vs. Inter Milan?

Real Madrid are looking to bounce back from their recent defeat against Real Betis in La Liga, as they start their Champions League campaign against Inter Milan tonight.

Undoubtedly, the 15-time champions of the tournament will hope to go all the way and reclaim their European throne.

The past two campaigns have certainly not gone the way the Whites would have wanted, as they ended yet another season without winning a major trophy.

As a result, the Merengues made sure to make full use of the summer transfer window to reinforce their squad with quality signings.

However, despite spending a sum of around €225 million, the Whites are still heavily dependent on Kylian Mbappe's form and brilliance.

Mbappe has been unlucky not to win a major trophy since his move to the Bernabeu. The Champions League, in particular, remains missing from his cabinet despite his repeated efforts over the years.

With the appointment of Jose Mourinho, the Whites are hopeful that things will change for the better, as they start their quest to win a 16th Champions League title against Inter tonight.

As for Mbappe, the Frenchman is eager to pick up where he left off last season. The forward is completely fit and ready to start for the Whites tonight as Mourinho's undisputed striker.

Despite Los Blancos' defeat by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League last season, Mbappe finished as the tournament's highest goal scorer with 15 goals in 11 appearances.

The 27-year-old was mighty close to equalling Cristiano Ronaldo's record of 17 goals in a single campaign.Without a doubt, Mbappe will be hoping to at least equal that record, if not break it, and also lift the coveted trophy by the end of this season.

The World Cup winner has faced a lot of criticism since moving to the Spanish capital in 2024, despite finishing as the Whites' top scorer for two straight seasons.

As a result, Mbappe will be hoping to answer all his critics this season and add to his already glorious trophy cabinet by winning the only trophy missing from it.

This will be the first time the Frenchman lines up against the Nerazzurri in the Champions League and will hope to open his account against the Italian champions tonight.

Mourinho is certainly counting on his prolific goal scorer tonight as the Whites hope to start their UCL campaign in the best way possible.
