Real Madrid targets Arsenal FC midfielder Martin Zubimendi again as Jose Mourinho approves summer move.
Real Madrid doesn't appear to want to rest in this summer transfer window, as its next target is apparently one it set some time ago: Martin Zubimendi.
While the Merengue enjoy the recent victory in their last preseason match against Schalke 04 (0-3) and analyse how the new team functions, the rumours involving Zubimendi, 27, have resurfaced.
According to TEAMTalk, Arsenal FC is considering one of the most important decisions of this transfer window.
Real Madrid again sets its sights on the young Spaniard, as for a few weeks the young player was among the rumours of possible signings, and now none other than the new coach, Jose Mourinho, appears to have approved the possible signing of Martin.
Although it is not yet confirmed, Arsenal will have to make a big decision this summer. The Gunners fought for the midfielder last summer, and he performed well for the team during their great season.
In the 2025/2026 season, Martin Zubimendi participated in 57 matches, contributing to the team with 6 goals and 3 assists, a performance that improved considerably compared to what he brought from his previous team, Real Sociedad.
But for some, Zubimendi's performance has declined notably, so a sale to Real Madrid does not seem far-fetched.
TEAMtalk also said that conversations between Real Madrid and Arsenal have already taken place, but the Spaniard's representatives have not yet given a clear response as they continue evaluating the best option for their client.
While some get excited and others question it, reports already indicate that Arsenal really does not want to let Martin Zubimendi go.
Only if the player himself pressures to leave and a very generous offer sneaks into the conversations can the course of his future change.
But if things progress well, the young Spaniard could bring a little more order to Real Madrid's midfield, above all by providing the balance we saw they lacked last season; for now, we'll just have to wait to see how Mourinho's desire develops.
For now, the team continues preparing and developing as an 'improved' team for this season, which will officially begin next Saturday, Aug. 22, against RCD Espanyol, where we will see which new faces are placed as starters or remain on the bench.
