Jose Mourinho guarantees Real Madrid has not contacted him about becoming coach. The club now faces an urgent search for a new coach.
All paths seemed to lead to Jose Mourinho as the new coach of Real Madrid. After two years without winning any of the major trophies, the club hopes to launch a new project.
The team has had a tough time with coaches these past few years. After the departure of Zinedine Zidane, there were not many options to occupy the bench of Real Madrid.
Let us remember that Los Blancos surprisingly bet on Carlo Ancelotti's return when no one counted on him. Something similar to what could happen in this new cycle that could start with Mourinho.
He has recently been linked to Real Madrid, but not everyone thinks he would be the best option; Jose Maria Gutierrez, for example, believes his 'prime' stage is not now.
Betting on the Portuguese coach seems like a risk to some because it is a somewhat more explosive solution. He is less flexible as a coach than Ancelotti, who will seek to impose his style on the team.
The reality is that, until now, Mourinho has only said that he is the coach of Benfica, but even so, he left the door open to his departure when the season ends, because, until then, he will decide what will happen to his future.
However, in the last round of the press conference, he revealed a key detail about the rumors of his possible arrival at Real Madrid.
Ahead of the match between Benfica and FC Famalicao, the coach calmly revealed that he does not plan to leave his current team.
"No one from Real Madrid spoke with me, I can guarantee it. I have been in football for as many years as you have been in journalism, and we are already used to these things, but nothing from Real Madrid."
Another name on the list of interested parties was Jurgen Klopp, a possible candidate to fill the vacancy left by Alvaro Arbeloa, but he also clarified that he only wants to coach Germany, making his arrival at the white club impossible.
Real Madrid cannot afford to show up in July without a coach, so they will have to sign someone else in his place as soon as possible.
