Jose Mourinho officially presented as Real Madrid coach in a private ceremony and opened up about his return to the club.
The most awaited signing by Real Madrid fans for months was finally officially presented as coach behind closed doors, and it is none other than Jose Mourinho.
Although the news is not new, he wasn't officially presented until Tuesday. The event was private, as the coach himself told the team that he didn't want any media.
Information about the event was revealed only through video fragments that Real Madrid uploaded to its official accounts.
The history between the white club and Mourinho, 63, dates back many years, and despite more than a decade having passed, the Portuguese never lost the respect and admiration for the club that opened its doors to him long ago.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez gave a great welcome to Jose Mourinho, who, by the way, signed a contract for three seasons, until June 2029.
The Portuguese did not hide his emotions upon returning to what he considered his home at the time. Speaking to the club's official media, he admitted that this second arrival is much more special than the first.
"The first time I arrived at Real Madrid, I was at the top professionally, but now it is also, in addition to that, the emotion and affection, so I think this stage is more special than the first," he confessed.
Mourinho also clarified that this time he arrives at Real Madrid to impose responsibility and order, things that the club greatly lacked, especially last season, which was disastrous.
For 'The Special One', it is a personal mission to help the club, and he not only wants to structure the team under orders but also to instil ambition and hard work in them.
Finally, Mourinho offered words to the fans, assuring them that he had always been one of them, despite the distance that had grown at the end of his first stage as the club's coach.
"Message to Madridistas? Easy. I am one of you. But not just today; I have always been, since the day I was presented in 2010 & the day I left in 2013, I am one of you. I have a fantastic memory of Wembley when we beat Dortmund, and the affection that was shown to me that day."
And while the congratulations and enthusiasm continue to overflow, the next challenge for the new coach and the team will be Saturday, Aug. 22, when they face RCD Espanyol for the new La Liga season 2026.
