Jose Mourinho said he received a renewal proposal from Benfica, but he has not wanted to see it.
Real Madrid is just days away from officially confirming the arrival of the new coach for this summer, the Portuguese Jose Mourinho.
Real Madrid and Mourinho have history. The Portuguese had already crossed paths with Real Madrid 13 years ago, where, under his mandate, three official titles were achieved, and records were broken.
Everything surrounding the signing of the new coach has created a push-and-pull among fans, because while it is more than confirmed, Jose Mourinho himself says otherwise.
"I had no contact, not even with the president or with any of the important people in the structure," he claimed.
But now, in a press conference before Benfica's last match of the season, the coach gave new clues about his future.
When asked whether he had already received any notice of a contract renewal with Benfica, the Portuguese answered yes.
"On Wednesday, a proposal was given to my agent, and it is a proposal that I did not want to see, that I did not want to know about, nor did I want to analyze," Mourinho opened up.
Additionally, the coach made it clear once again that he would not speak or act on it until the weekend, which will be a moment of rest at the end of the season.
"I will only analyze it from Sunday onward," he concluded.
For the moment, Real Madrid is in the midst of the new elections that Florentino Perez, the club's president, has wanted to hold, so we will not know anything about the matter for a few more days.
According to information from SPORT, the total agreement is already assured once the electoral process ends, to finally restore balance in the locker room that has affected the team so much this season.
The journalist Fabrizio Romano also spoke this Friday about the matter, assuring that the agreement between Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho is already in the final stages as of early this week.
He also confirms what was already known, that the Portuguese was always open to the possibility of returning to Los Blancos' bench.
