The same journalist who accused Real Madrid of misdiagnosing Mbappe’s knee now says the club forced him to lie about it to hide the “very serious” mistake.

The mess over the error in diagnosing Kylian Mbappe’s injury continues. After information emerged suggesting that Real Madrid’s doctors had made a mistake with the forward’s knee, the protagonist himself came out to deny it at a press conference with the French national team.

"The information that they examined the wrong knee is not true. I may be indirectly responsible. When there is no communication, everyone takes advantage of the situation; that’s how things are. We have always had fairly clear communication with Real Madrid,” the player said.

However, Daniel Riolo, the RMC Sports journalist who first reported this news, had a chance to respond on El Larguero on Cadena Ser. In his statements, he assured the public that Real Madrid forced Kylian Mbappe to lie to the media.

“I think this is very difficult information for Real Madrid and for Mbappe. Right now, everyone knows the truth. He decided to lie today in the United States, saying the information is false. Everyone knows it’s true. Mbappe’s communication strategy is catastrophic.

I think Real Madrid asked him to do it because they have hidden this information for a month and a half. And it’s normal. Because it’s an incredible, extraordinary, mind-blowing mistake. And now that everyone knows about it, it’s terrible. Real Madrid has been humiliated.

And Mbappe did not want to upset his club. They decided to lie and claim this information is false, even though everyone knows it’s true. It’s a strategy of lies. Honestly, I think it’s been an added humiliation for Madrid. Because if they had said: ok, we made a mistake. And the doctor would have been fired with Mbappe in good shape. Luckily, he did not aggravate his injury, and everything is going well.

Everyone is going in the same direction, and Mbappe wants to go to Madrid. Instead, it’s been a strategy of humiliation that took people for fools. Madrid took people for fools. They asked Mbappe to lie. And I think this is incredible,” he said in the aforementioned interview.

Asked whether it’s more a mistake by Mbappe or Real Madrid, Riolo is clear: “Everyone is ridiculous in this story. Madrid’s medical staff is ridiculous; Mbappe is ridiculous because he didn’t know things were going badly. They avoided a catastrophe. Mbappe is also at fault, but Madrid is the responsible one.”
