Real Madrid take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final second leg tonight
As it stands, it's a do-or-die situation for Real Madrid tonight against a vigilant Bayern Munich side at the Allianz Arena during the second leg of their quarter-final tie in the Champions League.
Los Blancos currently trail 2-1 in the tie and would look for a major turnaround, as their season depends on what happens after the final whistle tonight. The UCL is their only opportunity to win a trophy this season, as the Whites are currently nine points adrift of league leaders Barcelona.
During the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, Los Merengues failed to match the quality of the Bavarian side's football, looking on the back foot for most of the game.
Los Blancos' midfield, in particular, failed to control the game, as Aurelien Tchouameni and Thiago Pitarch were unable to find a reply to Bayern's free-flowing play through the middle.
But as the Spanish manager changed things up at the hour mark, with Jude Bellingham introduced, the tempo of the game started to shift in Madrid's favor, as the Englishman looked quite comfortable on the ball after returning from injury.
Kylian Mbappe's only goal for the Whites on the night seems to have provided enough hope to dream about a turnaround in Munich tonight, and according to a recent social media post by Spanish journalist Fernando Sanchez Tavero (also reported by Fabrice Hawkins), Arbeloa will seemingly make some significant changes in the middle of the park against Bayern tonight.
According to his post, Los Blancos will start the game without Eduardo Camavinga and one of the starting midfielders from the first leg, Pitarch, as Bellingham will start alongside Fede Valverde and Arda Guler.
One other significant change in the starting lineup will see Brahim Diaz start the game at the Allianz Arena tonight alongside Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior of course.
By the looks of it, Arbeloa will look to field a starting eleven with some of his most reliable players and look to turn the tie on its head, which would also increase his chances of securing his role at Madrid.
Nonetheless, Real's hopes of a turnaround definitely won't be a walk in the park, but with the talent they have on the side, nothing seems to be impossible as Los Blancos are known to change gears during these pivotal European nights, which seems to be the source of all the hopes and belief of the Madridistas tonight.
