Legendary German coach Jurgen Klopp recently explained why he tends to root for Barcelona over Real Madrid in El Clasico, pointing to the rough play the merengues employed in previous years.

El Clasico is just a few days away, and the anxiety for it to begin is even affecting world football figures, for example, Jurgen Klopp. The German coach acknowledged on DAZN, during the broadcast of the Bayern Munich-Arsenal match, that he will be very attentive to this Sunday's Real Madrid vs. Barcelona. In addition, he mentioned that he always does what he can to not miss this match that usually paralyzes the football world.

"Of course I will watch the Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid. I have watched this match at every stage of my life... It is a match I love to watch," Klopp said, who will also be closely following the German, Karim Adeyemi, who is usually one of Flick's favorite substitutions for the last minutes of a match.

When it was put on the table whether he supported either of the two teams, he revealed: "Today I am with whichever is the better team. And, the way things are, that team is probably Barcelona. In the past, I was more of a Barcelona fan because I hated when Pepe and the other defenders kicked everything in front of them back then. That was the only reason I supported Barcelona more."

Without a doubt, the Clasicos of Jose Mourinho's first spell were surrounded by rough play from his defenders. We are talking about Pepe and Sergio Ramos, who were not afraid at all of clashing with rivals. However, in the modern era, with VAR, it is very complicated for us to see something similar to what used to happen in those years. El Clasico was an absolute battle between merengues and blaugranas.

Currently, we expect an equally electrifying match, with players of the caliber of Kylian Mbappe, Lamine Yamal, Yan Diomande, Raphinha, Jude Bellingham, and Rodrygo; quality is assured for this Sunday. Barcelona arrives at this match with a six-point lead over the Whites in the standings. So a victory would be stretching the gap even further to nine points, something that would begin to complicate the panorama for the Chamartin side.

For its part, if Mourinho's side comes out victorious this Sunday, they would only be three points away from drawing level and, therefore, from first place. However, Barcelona is probably the team that has played the best football in Europe, so the Portuguese will have to set up a practically perfect match to beat those coached by Flick.
