The title race intensifies as LaLiga has marked the date on the calendar for Barcelona and Real Madrid to meet again.

The next Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid, with much at stake, will be played at 9 p.m. local time on Sunday, May 10, LaLiga announced.

Barcelona will host Real Madrid at Camp Nou on matchday 35, a Clasico in which both clubs will compete for the 2025/26 LaLiga title.

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona is currently the league leader, with 73 points from 29 matches after its 1-0 victory Sunday over Rayo Vallecano, while its rival, Real Madrid, sits four points behind after taking a 3-2 derby win against Atletico Madrid.

When both teams met earlier this season in LaLiga, Real Madrid prevailed 2-1 at the Bernabeu on Oct. 26, 2025, thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham.

Real Madrid has struggled since that triumph. Then-coach Xabi Alonso was replaced by Alvaro Arbeloa in January, following a 3-2 loss to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final.

That was followed by elimination from the Copa del Rey at the hands of lower-tier Albacete. At the same time, Madrid's loss to Benfica in the UEFA Champions League forced them to play a playoff against the same rival to reach the round of 16.

It is currently in one of its best moments of the season, following its strong playoff victory over Manchester City. The Whites managed to win both legs and secured their ticket to the quarterfinals, where Bayern Munich awaits.

For its part, Barcelona experienced a turning point in the first Clasico. Despite being eliminated from the Copa del Rey semifinals by Atletico Madrid on aggregate 4-3, Barcelona already has the Spanish Super Cup and will face Atletico again in the Champions League quarterfinals after thrashing Newcastle 8-2 on aggregate.

Flick’s team also dominated the Clasicos last season, winning four straight, an unprecedented feat: two in LaLiga, plus the Super Cup and the Copa del Rey, in 2024/25, which helped complete a domestic treble.

Physical issues have been a torment in Madrid. Despite the returns of Bellingham and Mbappé and the imminent return of Militao, Courtois was injured this week and will miss several matches.

After being substituted at halftime in Manchester, the club confirmed he will be out for six to eight weeks, meaning he will not return until the final stretch of the season, ceding his spot to Lunin.

Mbappe, despite his absence in recent matches, remains LaLiga’s top scorer this season with 23 goals. At Barcelona, Lamine Yamal is the top scorer with 14 goals, followed by Ferran Torres with 12. Additionally, Lamine Yamal also leads the assists table with 9 goal passes.
