In one of the NFL games taking place in the United Kingdom on Sunday afternoon (the 11th of October) an NFL star used the celebration of Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham after a clutch field goal
Since joining Real Madrid back in the summer of 2023, Jude Bellingham’s celebration - both arms outstretched with a straight stance - has become very popular all over the globe.
Not least with his England team mates, with several joining in after Bellingham found the back of the net in a friendly against UK rivals Scotland at Hampden Park (the same ground Zinedine Zidane scored that iconic UEFA Champions League final goal).
In particular, Three Lions skipper Harry Kane - who was part of the celebration vs Scotland - has often joined in with the 23-year old when he has scored big goals at tournaments, such as against Slovakia at Euro 2024 or against Mexico at the Azteca during last summer’s FIFA World Cup in North America.
IMAGO / Craig Mercer Well, it is not just football where Bellingham’s influence is clear. Indeed not, as Cam Little of NFL side Jacksonville Jaguars pulled out the iconic celebration during their clash with the Philadelphia Eagles at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Sunday (the 11th of October).
He did so after scoring the winning field goal, just seven seconds from the end of the game, making it all the more special that he still had the composure in the heat of the moment to whip out the celebration.
After the game, Little said: “Hey I know you all saw the Bellingham celebration back there too!” Making it clear beyond any reasonable doubt that his celebration was indeed from the Real Madrid midfielder and global superstar.
To give an example of just how big his status is in the game - Kane is the England captain and the number nine of Bayern Munich, with over 200 Premier League goals. He has 20.2m followers on Instagram. Meanwhile, Bellingham has 56.4m followers, nearly 3x as many as his captain. Sort of crazy when you think about it.
Well, this celebration in the NFL shows just how worldwide the Real Madrid number five is. Sure, the game may have been played in Europe and Bellingham's home country, but it was still done by an American player in an American sport. Perhaps the fact it was played in England is the reason he dedicated his celebration to the England man? Who knows. Very cool either way, that is for certain. Class to see.
No doubt this is not the last time we see the Bellingham celebration in another sport.
