Real Madrid leads the race to sign Manchester United's 16-year-old JJ Gabriel, with pundits saying they are close to reaching an agreement.
The winter transfer market will officially open in January 2027, but several big clubs are already in search of their next additions, as appears to be the case with Real Madrid.
Last summer, the white club added great players such as Yan Diomande, Bernardo Silva, Denzel Dumfries, Carlos Espi, Marc Cucurella, and Ibrahima Konate.
The club did not bet on young players on this occasion except for Diomande, 19, but this decision could be changing for the new transfer market, since there are rumors that the club is after Manchester United midfielder Joseph Gabriel.
The young Englishman is only 16 years old and is already one of the most coveted prospects of the big clubs in Europe, since he stands out above the other players of his age.
For some time, JJ Gabriel has been linked with Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, among many other clubs. While everything remains speculative, at least we know that PSG appears to be out of the equation.
At first, it was said that the Parisians made a very high offer for Gabriel and that supposedly the young man and his entourage had rejected it, but according to Benjamin Quarez of Le Parisien, this would be a lie, since PSG never presented an offer.
Now, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has come out to give the latest information he has on the matter. According to him, the midfielder is ready to leave Manchester United, while Real Madrid is crowned the main and most favored candidate.
"My understanding is that a few clubs are now almost out of the race; for example, Paris Saint-Germain, at this moment, is considered focused on different things. They were one of the clubs linked with JJ Gabriel, but no longer. The same happens with Bayern, you could say both are currently out of signing the player," Romano begins.
The journalist assures that the Madridistas are working on an agreement for JJ Gabriel, although they know it will not be an easy task to carry out.
"There will be more clubs until the end of the saga because the saga remains open and, until Jan. 1, JJ Gabriel will not be able to sign anything or officially complete any transfer," he continued explaining.
Romano commented that, in verbal terms, Real Madrid has made significant progress and remains the leader. In fact, journalist Matteo Moretto stated a couple of hours ago that the agreement between the club and Gabriel is close to being finalized.
"JJ Gabriel is training in Madrid, waiting to close all the loose ends of his signing for Real Madrid," he assures.
With the other clubs out of the race, it will only remain to wait to see how the operations end and whether we will see the young star polished at Santiago Bernabeu.
