Real Madrid's presidential election date has been confirmed. The vote will be held on June 7, featuring Florentino Pérez and Enrique Riquelme as the two candidates competing for the club's presidency.

Real Madrid has announced the date of the elections for the club's presidency. They will take place on June 7; on that day, members will be able to exercise their right to vote to choose who will lead the white project.

Until that date arrives, the campaigns of the two candidates will continue: Florentino Perez, who has presided over Real Madrid since 2000, except for the period from 2006 to 2009 when he was absent. He wishes to remain in the position and bring Jose Mourinho to the club's bench as part of his new project.

On the other hand, Enrique Riquelme will be the second option that members will have to vote for if they decide on a radical change at the club. He has not yet announced the names of the coach or players who will arrive under his mandate, but he surely will in the coming days.

Let us remember that all of these elections were organized by Florentino Perez himself, since, according to numerous Spanish newspapers and Real Madrid fans themselves, they were calling for the president's removal.

Something that clearly angered Florentino was that he organized a press conference, in which he took the opportunity to attack certain newspapers and their respective owners for defaming him and inventing false news about both his person and the club, something he would not be willing to tolerate.

He also took the opportunity to clarify that Real Madrid does not belong to him, but to the 100,000 members who surround the Merengue club, and he called for this new vote to verify what those members are thinking: whether they still want him to remain as president or if it is time for a change. Whatever the decision, he will be happy.

This whole mess was caused by the terrible sporting season Real Madrid experienced, during which they did not win a single title. They were eliminated in the Champions League semifinals at the hands of Bayern Munich, finished second in LaLiga, far surpassed by FC Barcelona due to a string of bad results in the second half of the season, were eliminated from the Copa del Rey by Albacete, a second-division team, etc.

All of that gradually heated the fans until they reached a point where they exploded. Therefore, the Spanish media exploded, and that was when Florentino's press conference and the elections, both mentioned above, took place. The question here is: Does Enrique Riquelme really have a chance to beat Florentino Perez in the June 7 elections? We will see.
