Real Madrid Castilla aims to give the club some relief. Amid the first team's chaos, the youngsters look to lift the Premier League International Cup on May 12 against Borussia Dortmund.
After conquering the Youth League, Real Madrid will look to lift another European title. On May 12, the white reserve team will face Borussia Dortmund at Adams Park, in a unique opportunity to conquer the Premier League International Cup in the club's first participation in this tournament.
The team coached by Julian Lopez de Lerma reached the final after beating Dinamo Zagreb (1-2) in extra time, thanks to a goal by Bruno Iglesias. In front will be Borussia Dortmund, which eliminated a Spanish rival: Real Sociedad. The Germans beat the Basque team 0-2, with goals from Taycan Macid and Diallo.
Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund will face each other at Adams Park, the stadium of Wycombe Wanderers, a team from the English League One. The venue, inaugurated in 1990, has a capacity of 10,284 spectators.
The date of this match practically coincides with the second leg of the Youth Champions Cup against Athletic Club, a competition in which several players who have also played in the Premier League International Cup have participated.
The first leg will be played on May 9 at Real Madrid's training ground, while the return leg is scheduled for May 13 in Bilbao, both at 5:00 p.m. (local time).
Thus, the return leg is set for just one day after the Premier League International Cup final, on May 12 at Adams Park. The club must aspire to win both trophies.
With this, it is expected that the youth players will bring some positivity to the club, since the first team has been responsible for putting itself in a very dark hole in recent weeks, full of controversy, internal altercations, and a locker room that seems to be about to explode.
Now more than ever, the youth academy must shine and win key titles to be considered for a future that is probably not as far off as one might think. Because the world-class stars that the club signed with the intention of returning to the throne of Europe have not worked, and, even worse, it seems they cannot stand each other, perhaps it is time to begin keeping an eye on the young players from La Fabrica.
