According to fresh reports, Real Madrid are considering the idea of signing another Portuguese international, after making the signing of Bernardo Silva
Although everyone is currently focused on this summer's FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, there will be plenty of hard work going on at Real Madrid to make sure the club don't go through yet another trophyless season next out.
The club have already worked hard to make the signings of defenders Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Marc Cucurella, whilst the signing of midfielder Bernardo Silva is imminent.
The former Manchester City man will be Real Madrid's first Portuguese player since Cristiano Ronaldo, whom left the club a whole eight years ago now. Quite surprising that there hasn't been one Portuguese player in that time.
Well, there is a famous phrase about London Buses. You wait ages for one, and then two come along at once. That could well be the case here too. Indeed, as ESPN Brazil have reported that Los Blancos are considering a move for Silva's compatriot and former club team mate, Ruben Dias.
This has also been confirmed by UK media as well, with journalist Sam Lee from The Athletic - who covers City - saying that Real Madrid have interest in signing Dias this summer.
Certainly an interesting report. It is clear the club have needed defensive surgery, after such a poor campaign last season. But they have already made three signings in the back line.
Still, the more the merrier, and most would probably agree that one more central defender is needed. Dias is certainly a very good box defender, who loves to put his body on the line and should definitely make the side less soft than they were last time out.
However, you have to find the right balance. Truth be told, Cucurella is known more for his defensive work than going forward (and even then he is not THAT good defensively). Konate is known more for his defending than ball playing. So, with Dias, would the build up be of the requisite quality. Dumfries will hardly help progress the ball in deeper areas either.
Now, we know how Mourinho plays. It is not going to be like Pep Guardiola where the keeper rolls goal kicks across the six yard box to bait the press. Sure. That is fine. However, especially in La Liga, you are going to come up against deep blocks, where the build up will be important. Is this good enough all round? Let's see. One to keep an eye on.
