Real Madrid's versatile Brazilian defender, Eder Militao, has provided the fans with a very positive and encouraging update on Wednesday the 12th of August

Real Madrid have made a number of signings this window in the form of Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva, Carlos Espi and Yan Diomande, with potentially more to come.

But you all know the cliche used in football "Like a new signing" for a key player that returns from injury. Well, it looks like that could once again apply to defender Eder Militao.

Indeed so, as the Brazilian international has provided us all with a positive update on his fitness, in the form of a selfie on his Instagram story in the gym, looking positive and looking sharp.

Meanwhile, the 28-year old was also spotted training with the ball in Wednesday's training sessions with the players who have not travelled to Deportivo La Coruna for the team's penultimate friendly.

Back in April, Militao suffered a thigh injury that required surgery and therefore missed the FIFA World Cup with Brazil, alongside club team mate Rodrygo who was also ruled out with an injury.

There is no doubt that when he is fit, he is a very good player, who would comfortably get into Real Madrid's best XI. Dean Huijsen, Ibrahima Konate and Antonio Rudiger all bring their own attributes to the table, but Militao is just on another level.

However, 'when he is fit' is the operative phrase there, because it's so rare. In seven seasons at the club, he has only played more than 21 times across all competitions twice, which happened back to back in the 21/22 and 22/23 seasons, playing 50 and 51 times respectively.

If, by hook or by crook, Jose Mourinho could get that many games out of him this season, there would be a much higher chance of the team winning silverware, he is that good. That said, it is important not to rush him back.

It feels unlikely, at least at the moment, that he would be available for the season opener against RCD Espanyol in just 10 days time from now, but from the Real Sociedad game onwards, there will be some hope that he can at least feature in the match day squad.

With the extended UEFA Champions League format, there are plenty of games to go around, so this will provide Mourinho with the opportunity to ease him back into the side carefully without taking too many risks of rushing him back or anything like that. Fingers crossed.
