With several key players injured or questionable, Real Madrid must dig deep and take all three points from Son Moix to stay in the La Liga title race.

After the break for national team matches, the last one before the long-awaited 2026 World Cup, the return to routine arrives. In the resumption of league competition, Real Madrid will visit the Estadio de Son Moix on Saturday, a fortress where the Whites have two wins, one draw, and two losses in their last five visits. The match, corresponding to matchday 30 of LaLiga, will be a real challenge for the two top scorers of Alvaro Arbeloa’s team, Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe.

Injuries and doubts for the match:

Federico Valverde (suspended), Dani Ceballos (calf), Rodrygo (knee), Thibaut Courtois (thigh), Ferland Mendy (hamstring), Raul Asencio (muscle), Eder Militao (hamstring), and Vinicius Junior (thigh).

Vinicius Junior has visited Son Moix a total of five times. He has only managed to score in one of them and has two wins with Real Madrid at the Mallorca ground. In the first of those, in the 2019-20 season, the Whites lost 1-0 to newly promoted Mallorca — then coached by Vicente Moreno — from Segunda B. In 2021-22, Vinicius opened his scoring account on the island, doing so in the Whites’ 0-3 win.

Benzema, with a brace, joined the rout that day. One year later, Mallorca won 1-0 with an own goal by Nacho Fernandez, with help from Vedat Muriqi. In the 2023/24 season, the Whites won 0-1 thanks to a thunderbolt from Tchouameni. And last season, they could not get past a draw (1-1) on a night when Muriqi and Rodrygo were the scorers.

For his part, Kylian Mbappe, No. 1 in the race for the Pichichi with 23 goals, still does not know what it is like to win or score against Mallorca on the island. The French attacker has only played one match at Son Moix. It was on matchday 1 of the 2024/25 LaLiga season. That day, in which he also made his official debut for Real Madrid in LaLiga, he saw his team fail to get past a draw against the vermilion side.

Mbappe started and played 90 minutes. He had chances; in total, he took four shots that registered 0.27 xG… but he ended without scoring. On Saturday — barring any changes — it will be the second time the Madrid ‘10’ visits Mallorca’s home.

Historically, Son Moix has been a stadium that has caused Real Madrid more than one headache. After leaving Lluis Sitjar, Mallorca moved to their current ground in 1999. In fact, that same season, Madrid inaugurated the new Son Moix on matchday 1 of LaLiga 1999/00.

The Whites, who arrived at the 90th minute losing 1-0, ended up coming back from Carlitos’ opening goal with two consecutive strikes: Raul in the 91st and Morientes in the 94th to turn the score around: 1-2.

Real Madrid has visited the Estadio de Son Moix a total of 22 times, in matches of the League, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. The record is 11 wins for the Whites, 4 draws, and 7 wins for Mallorca.

Madrid has then won on half of the occasions they have visited Son Moix. But when it comes to counting goals, the difference is at least notable: 36 goals for and 21 against.
