Real Madrid told AFP that Kylian Mbappe is suffering from muscle overload in the hamstrings of his left leg, after the Real Betis game.
Real Madrid gave the first indications following Kylian Mbappe's injury-related exit this Friday night.
Having come off injured 10 minutes from the end of the match against Real Betis Balompie, Kylian Mbappe did not want to take any risks and made it known his desire to leave the pitch so as not to aggravate his injury.
On an action where he was in movement, the French forward preferred to stop dead and cut immediately to be replaced. Subsequently, his team was equalized in stoppage time, losing all hope of still being able to push FC Barcelona in the fight for the title.
But above all, Mbappe's health could worry observers, notably French ones. Real Madrid gave the first indications after the match.
He is suffering from "muscle overload in the hamstrings of the left leg," the Merengue club told AFP. On the face of it, the Merengue club was not too worried about the severity of the injury, but caution will certainly be the order of the day one month from the World Cup squad list.
"Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe suffered a 'muscle overload' in his left hamstring during the team's 1-1 draw at Real Betis in La Liga, a club source told AFP on Friday."
When asked about Mbappe's status, head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, after the Betis game, said, "I have no idea. He had some discomfort, and we will see how it develops in the coming days."
Real Madrid drew 1-1 on Friday against Real Betis with goals from Vinicius Jr. (17') and Hector Bellerin (90+4'). Los Blancos fell even further away from the race to win LaLiga.
Currently, Real Madrid is second with 74 points after 33 games, while FC Barcelona leads with 82 points after 32 matches.
The upcoming matches for Arbeloa's team are against Espanyol on Sunday, May 3, and against Barcelona in a new edition of the Spanish Clasico on May 10.
But that is not the only concern for Mbappe, considering that the 2026 World Cup is just around the corner. It should be remembered that France already lost Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike for the World Cup due to a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered in the Champions League against PSG.
