One of Real Madrid's most successful players could make a comeback to the club next season in a different role.
Real Madrid has been home to some of the world's most talented players throughout the club's history, playing a crucial role in Los Blancos' dominance in football till now.
Every former player has spoken highly of Los Blancos, even after years of leaving the Bernabeu, and some have even rejoined the club in different roles.
Most recently, the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Raul Gonzalez, Santiago Solari, Guti, and also the current manager, Alvaro Arbeloa, have all been serving the club in various post-retirement roles.
Now, according to Diario AS (h/t Get Football News), Los Blancos could see one of their recently retired players return to the club, as the report suggests the club is actively pursuing Toni Kroos for a role in its sporting structure.
The report also suggests that Los Merengues are pretty much decided on bringing him back in non-playing role but his actual designation remains to be a matter of contention within the board.
Every single Madrid fan would agree that the German Maestro hung up his boots a bit early in his career, but the Bernabeu faithful have always respected Kroos' decision to retire on his terms, and that was also true at Real Madrid, while most others have decided to finish their playing careers elsewhere.
The 36-year-old won his fifth Champions League title overall and fourth with Los Blancos during his last season in 2024 and also provided the assist for the first goal of the night from a corner, which was eventually headed in by Dani Carvajal.
Kroos made a staggering 465 appearances for the Whites, scoring 28 goals and providing 99 assists during his time at the Bernabeu, including effortless passes into the back of the net and pinpoint long balls for his teammates.
Now his return to the club is being viewed as a sign of positive things to come after their setbacks over the past few campaigns, even though the club brought in Kylian Mbappé shortly after Kroos' final match for Los Blancos.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez reportedly has a pretty close relationship with his former number eight, which is also one of the reasons for bringing him in from next season, a move that is all but confirmed according to various sources, although his role remains undecided.
Despite the ongoing uncertainty regarding Los Blancos' managerial problems, Kroos' return to the Valdebebas would definitely be cherished by the fans as his double-fisted celebration while being substituted during the UCL finals in Cardiff and London is still fresh in the memories of every Madridista.
