Following the recent words of appreciation from Davide Ancelotti, his assistant coach at Real Madrid from 2021 to 2025, Toni Kroos did not hesitate to react with an emoji in an Instagram story.
The memory of Toni Kroos as a Real Madrid midfielder is still very much alive for Madridismo, since he had a magnificent spell wearing white. Both at the merengue club and with the German national team, he was part of a magnificent generation that reached the top on multiple occasions, leaving an indelible mark and a legendary record for the former midfielder.
He even left a mark on the Ancelotti family, since he was coached by Carlo during four seasons divided into two periods the Italian coach had at Madrid. During that golden era of the club, his son, Davide Ancelotti, was able to experience firsthand the quality the German had. Praising the former player in a recent interview he had with Diario AS, in which he was asked, "How does a team survive the departure of a player like Kroos?"
Davide responded: "It survives, but it loses something it will never recover. The best player in the world in his position. So you cannot say 'I need another Kroos' because there is not one," to which the interviewer responds: "What makes him special?" and Davide continues: "He was the owner of the match. He took ownership of the rhythm of play, and the game was played how he wanted, and that was fundamental because he managed the rhythm of the match for you.
And he also ran, because Toni was an 11-kilometer-per-match player. And he also defended; he had tactical sense in defense, and that is why I loved it when he played as a '6,' although it is true that he did not love second balls or duels and preferred to play as an '8' and left the dirty work to Camavinga or Casemiro. But inevitably, for Real Madrid's playing dynamics, losing Toni has been very difficult."
Later, the interviewer asked him about the relationship he had with the German - let's remember that Davide was the assistant coach to his father, Carlo Ancelotti, during his second spell as Real Madrid coach. "I had a good relationship with him and with everyone, with Modric too. We talked a lot about football and not only about that, because he is a very intelligent guy. He always has a very interesting point of view on all things; he was that type of player who helps you improve as a coach," he added.
These words from the Italian coach went viral to the point that they reached Kroos's ears, who did not hesitate to share them through his Instagram account, adding a white heart at the top of the screen, which is a clear message for who would then be his second coach at Real Madrid.
